Before joining Van Kampen Law, Carmen honed her skills as the Spanish Head Litigation Paralegal and Assistant Manager at Brian Hills Law, a personal injury law firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. There, she was responsible for managing the entire litigation department, ensuring that court deadlines were met and preparing necessary documentation for both Spanish and English-speaking clients. Carmen also provided translation services and acted as an interpreter for Spanish-speaking clients throughout the litigation process, ensuring they had the support they needed to navigate complex legal matters. Prior to her role at Brian Hills Law, Carmen worked at Kramer Law Group as a Spanish Intake Specialist and Property Damage Specialist. In this role, she was the main point of contact for Spanish-speaking clients, facilitating communication between clients, adjusters, and medical entities. Her work across these roles has equipped her with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases with ease.
In 2022, Carmen decided to take a break from her career to fulfill her dream of traveling the world. During her travels, she visited North Carolina and fell in love with the area, ultimately relocating to Charlotte in December 2022. By May 2023, she had joined Van Kampen Law, where she now applies her expertise to help the firm advocate for employees facing workplace injustices.
Outside of work, Carmen enjoys playing volleyball, working out, reading, and building Legos. She treasures time spent with her family and friends, values rooted in the lessons she learned growing up in a large Mexican family. Originally from Arizona and raised in Utah, Carmen developed a deep appreciation for the outdoors and the mountain landscapes, which continue to inspire her love for nature.
