Kat Cox, Esq.
Kat Cox is from the greater Atlanta, Georgia, area. She joined Van Kampen Law after graduating from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Before she passed the bar exam, Kat worked as a Registered Behavior Technician working with children with Autism while an undergrad at Clemson University. There, Kat received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Legal Studies. After getting her degree at Clemson, Kat worked as a Technical Recruiter for a Fortune 500 hiring solutions firm where she negotiated employment terms for clients.
While in law school at USC, Kat completed legal research that explored the application of the Americans with Disabilities Act to gig economy employers, independent of their worker classification status. Kat was an Articles Editor of the ABA Real Property Trust and Estate Journal and served as the Events and Marketing VP of the Health Law Society and was a member of the Employment Law Society. She also earned the CALI award for earning the highest grade in Workers Compensation Law.
Kat’s other legal experience includes working for a prominent plaintiff-side mass tort litigation firm, working on pharmaceutical, opioid, and medical device class actions. She also worked for a defense firm working on Section 1983 claims, business liability, medical malpractice, and insurance defense claims.
Kat’s experience in law school coupled with her background as a recruiter and psychology undergraduate degree has given her a unique perspective on employment law matters and she is looking forward to using that perspective to advocate for her clients. In her free time, Kat enjoys cooking and baking international cuisine and cheering on the Clemson Tigers.
