Van Kampen Law Hires First Associate to Start August 2012

Info

Sean Hermann, a third year law student at the University of Illinois College of Law, has accepted an associate position as an NC employment attorney with Van Kampen Law to start in August 2012.     Sean joins the firm with a impressive employment law pedigree.   Sean clerked for Freking & Betz, a prominent plaintiff-side employment firm in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2011  (http://www.frekingandbetz.com/aop/employment-law/) and clerked for the Honrable Tom M. Lyton on the Illinois Appellate Court, Third District in 2010.  Even before law school, Sean was garnering employment law experience as an intern with the United State’s Attorney’s Offrice in Washington, D.C.

At the University of Illinois, Sean has excelled academically; he has received CALI Awards for the top grade in: Employment Discrimination; Labor Law and Civil Litigation Clinic.  Sean also received the Distinction of Honors in both Introduction to Advocacy and Legal Writing and Analysis.  Most recently,  Sean was one of three chosen out of a field of twenty-eight to compete in the national Environmental Law Moot Court competition.

With Sean’s hiring, Van Kampen Law will also achieve its goal of employing a Spanish-speaking associate.  Sean majored in Spanish at Illinois College where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.   It is well known that Hispanic immigrants are among the most targeted groups in North Carolina for discrimination, sexual harassment and wage and hour violations.   “I’ve always aspired to have my firm help redress employment law violations among North Carolina’s immigrant population and beginning in August 2012, we’ll proudly enter that fight,” said Van Kampen.
